Perry Newman, Attorney at Law

Perry W. Newman is a native Oklahoman. He was born in Tulsa and came home to Skiatook in 1962. Perry has spent most of his adult life as a resident of Southern Osage County and currently resides on a small farm between Bartlesville and Pawhuska.

Perry attended Northeastern State University from 1980 to 1984 and earned a Bachelor of

Science degree while also playing varsity baseball. After college Perry attended Law School at the University of Tulsa from 1984 to 1987. During his final year in law school, Perry served an internship in the Washington County District Attorney’s Office and was able to serve as lead attorney in the prosecution of numerous misdemeanor and two felony trials.

After graduation from TU and passing the Oklahoma Bar Exam Perry was employed as an

Assistant District Attorney for Washington and Nowata Counties. During his time in the District Attorney’s Office Perry prosecuted felony and misdemeanor cases, mental health cases, traffic cases and was appointed director of a novel juvenile justice initiative known as SHOCAP, which stood for Serious Habitual Offender Comprehensive Action Program. Perry coordinated community efforts to address juvenile crime within Washington County and conducted training regarding the program on a national level.

After leaving the District Attorney’s Office Perry relocated to Colorado where he took and

passed the Colorado Bar Exam and was admitted to practice in that state in 1991. During his time in Colorado Perry was employed at Vice President and Corporate Counsel for a national advertising firm in Denver. Upon leaving the corporate practice in 1992 Perry returned to Oklahoma and opened his solo private practice in Owasso, Oklahoma. Perry operated his general private practice in Owasso for the next 26 years handling criminal, civil, domestic and bankruptcy cases for clients in Green County, Oklahoma.

Following a year sabbatical traveling across the US in a motorhome visiting 39 states during that time, Perry re-entered the practice of law in 2019 as an associate attorney with a law firm in Tulsa. In 2021 Perry transferred to a satellite office in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and was employed as the senior attorney in that office until July, 2024.

Perry is the father of two adult daughters and the grandfather of one grandson. When Perry is not practicing law, he enjoys traveling with his partner Jennifer, spending time with his children and grandson, hunting, fishing, being trained by his wonder dog Mickie, kayaking, running 5K races and working on his small farm.
